High Point Market Fall 2024 Recap

We just returned from High Point Market and I’m so inspired after meeting with numerous new furniture manufacturers, rug companies, lighting vendors and artists. I can’t wait to transform my client’s spaces!

High Point Market is the largest home furnishings trade show in the world, featuring thousands of manufacturers and vendors in home design products. It’s a major event for anyone in the interior design industry to learn about new products, trends and innovations.

Attending High Point annually allows us to find unique pieces that others won’t have and that you can’t find in local stores. We sit on sofas and chairs to get a feel for cushion insert options, open drawers and inspect quality, see finishes in person, tour factories, etc. This is our chance to test, inspect, explore and get inspired so I can design interiors that are as unique as their home owners. Here’s a recap of the 2025 trends we found at Market.

  1. Bold & Vibrant Colors: Vibrant hues and patterns made a strong statement. In both furniture and cabinetry, rich jewel tones and warm earth tones were popular, adding personality and warmth to spaces. We saw a lot of dark earthy colors like terracotta, burgundy and eggplant as well as some yellow, red and various shades of green and blue. You’ll also still see color drenching in 2025 where we use different shades of the same color throughout the room to make a bold statement. Personally I just LOVE working with color and was very excited to see furniture manufacturers moving forward with more color vs. neutral. Don’t be afraid to pick a bold color for your upholstery! Performance fabrics come in a wide array of colors now and a colorful sofa will give your room a punch of personality!
  2. Pattern & Texture: The use of patterns to create a pop of personality and layers of texture is something we saw frequently at market and is something I try to incorporate in all of my designs. For example, in this design we did a little color drenching in black but used a wood veneer patterned wallpaper, textured cork ceiling and then a bold pattern on the back of the distressed black leather fabric. This gives the room depth, warmth and a whole lot of personality!

  1. Warm Earthy Whites: For those that want to stay in the neutral space, warm whites have replaced the stark cooler tones from the past few years with shades of beige, taupe and yellow undertones. However, in our opinion these must be paired with layers of texture and natural materials to not fall flat and keep their warmth.
  2. Curved Furniture: Soft, rounded shapes in sofas, chairs, and tables continued to dominate, creating a more inviting and comfortable atmosphere in homes.
  3. Mixed Materials: There was a noticeable trend towards mixing different materials, such as wood, metal, and natural stone like travertine, quartzite and marble. Tables would have a wood base with stone top or metal trim details to add interest. Cabinetry will have metal mesh, grass and fabric. We also saw more silver finishes being incorporated into furniture and lighting.

  1. Sustainable Materials: From well made faux leather finishes to the use of sustainable wood, stone and metals we’re seeing manufacturers and artisans trying to be more eco-friendly in the manufacturing and design process.
  2. Warmer Wood Tones: White washed, gray washed and lighter wood tones were not used as much, with warmer and darker shades of woods making a comeback.
  3. Blend of styles: Traditional furniture is back in a new way. Classic lines in darker wood tones were paired with more contemporary styled pieces. For example, we saw a mix of traditional tables or desks, shown with a more modern chair with a bold patterned fabric.
  4. Artisanal Touches: Handcrafted and artisanal elements were everywhere, emphasizing unique designs and craftsmanship that tell a story. We visited many artisan booths, looking at one of a kind art pieces and talking to the artists to learn about their process.
  5. Mixing Vintage w/New: We were sure to hit up some of our favorite antique dealers to find some special one of a kind pieces! Mixing vintage/antique pieces with new products gives your home soul and depth. On this trip, I found some 18th Century stone Lion statues from Provence for a client. We wrapped them up and hauled them home in the back of our SUV and they looked gorgeous on her front porch!
  6. Vanities: Bathroom vanities are no longer just functional pieces — they’re becoming a design statement! More furniture manufacturers are incorporating their unique flair into vanity designs, offering a wide range of styles, finishes, and stunning stone tops.

The overall vibe at Market  was one of creativity and innovation, with manufacturers pushing boundaries while still prioritizing comfort and functionality. There was a clear emphasis on personal expression, encouraging homeowners to create spaces that reflect their unique tastes and lifestyles. Creating a home that is stylish, functional, luxurious but comfortable and as unique as the homeowner is what we do best.   Are you ready to schedule your discovery call today?
